WHO ARE WE?

HD_LAB (Habitability and Development Laboratory) is a multidisciplinary University Development Cooperation group, comprised of teachers and students from CEU San Pablo University and complemented by external collaborators. At the moment, this group integrates people from Medicine, Architecture, Pharmacy, Economics, Law and Humanities. HD_Lab is born with a particpatory, open and flexible vocation, focusing on student involvement.

The "Helping strengthen University of Makeni's educational capacities" project marks the origin of this group, born in 2009 in the Volunteering and Pastoral division of CEU San Pablo University. This is a collaboration project that involves both CEU San Pablo and UNIMAK, resulting in various trips, initiatives and projects.

0.     GOAL

The group's essential goal is to improve the living conditions in  developing countries, from a comprehensive and transversal approach using the University as a cooperative channel.

1.     LINES OF WORK

The HD_Lab is based on five main lines of work:

- Training. Academic activities (classes, lectures...) imparted both on-site an online at UNIMAK, as well as the inclusion of Makeni related syllabuses for various subjects, workshops and actions on multiple areas of CEU San Pablo University.

- Research. This line feeds the other ones, as well as is fed by them. Works, syllabuses and proposals lead the debate and call for reflexion and the development of research processes (articles, publications, reports, data bases, etc.)

- Action. Specific implementation of proceedings, all based on the necessary contact with the ground. Until now, this has included multiple trips to Makeni in multidisciplinary groups, formed by students and professors.

- Awareness. Broadcasting activities, reflexion, debate and joint work, all captured on various initiatives: workshops, conferences, seminars, visits, etc.

- Volunteering. Charitable works and volunteer participation to support multiple activities alongside the Volunteering and Pastoral division of CEU San Pablo.
